New Alabama laws taking effect Jan. 1st, 2025 [Video]

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – It’s the start of a new year, which also means some new laws are taking effect in the state of Alabama.

The majority of new laws from 2024’s legislative session have already gone into effect, but there are still several that begin on Jan. 1 that you need to know about before kicking off 2025.

House Bill 358 involves Child Care and workforce development.

This law will essentially improve childcare options for working parents, by creating the employer tax credit, childcare provider tax credit, and non-profit childcare provider grant and to make legislative findings.

The hope is that this will help increase our state’s workforce by improving affordable, quality childcare.

House Bill 126 requires firefighters and medical personnel to undergo regular training related to interacting with individuals who have sensory needs or invisible disabilities.

That training can be online or in-person.
