NESC recommends pursuit of a national strategy to improve the quality of work in Ireland [Video]

New research published by the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) has recommended the pursuit of a national strategy to improve the quality of work in Ireland.

Based on Irish and international evidence, the report finds that implementing specific measures to improve the quality of work can lead to enhanced employee well-being and productivity improvements that justify the added investment from the perspective of employers. 

Pursuing a Better Work Strategy would establish a commitment to improving the quality of work across all sectors of the economy.

The research shows this can strengthen economic resilience and tackle persistent challenges in the Irish labour markets, delivering benefits for employees, employers and the wider economy and society.

It can also help Ireland to respond in an agile manner to the labour market opportunities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
