NC rotary presents check to non-profit organization to aid Helene victims [Video]

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – Rotary District 7680 in North Carolina presented a $25,000 check to Bounty and Soul, a non-profit organization in Buncombe County to support areas affected by Helene.

Kevin Kendrick, Rotary District Governor for District 7680, presented the check to Ali Casparian, Executive Director of Bounty and Soul, on Thursday.

Rotary zones 33 and 34 which cover the eastern and southern U.S. made the grant possible while 53 rotary clubs contributed an additional $50,000.

Casparian said Bounty and Soul’s budget for weekly food went up from $8,000 to $18,000 a week after the aftermath of Helene and it could not purchase produce from local farmers anymore due to the contamination of the crops from the flooding.

Rotarian Cindy Fink also coordinated a time for rotarians from Salisbury, NC, to package produce boxes available to residents in and around Black Mountain and Swannanoa.
