NBA star sidelined to start Team USA training camp (report) [Video]

A calf strain has kept Kevin Durant out of the first two days of Team USA’s training camp as it prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics later this month, sources indicated to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. While the injury isn’t considered serious, Durant’s status for Wednesday’s exhibition game is up in the air.

Durant, the leading USA men’s scorer in Olympics history, is coming off a strong 2023-24 NBA season in which he averaged 27.1 points on 52.3 percent shooting with 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 75 games for the Phoenix Suns.

The 35-year-old dealt with right foot soreness, a left ankle sprain and right hamstring soreness that caused him to miss time at different points during the season.

Team USA’s first Olympic game isn’t until July 28. However, once the roster is submitted, a player is unable to replaced.
