ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – For the second time in a week, Atlanta News First Consumer Investigator Better Call Harry received a notification that appeared to be from his bank.
The notification lists the name of his bank and includes information about his mortgage. After calling the number and being bounced around, he discovered his mortgage and contact information were obtained from public records.
The letter he received this week and the one from last week had similar wording but came from two different solicitors: a home warranty company and a mortgage insurance broker.
The letters look similar to missed payment notices and do not mention the names of their businesses. In the most recent letter from “The Mortgage Service Center,” it says, “We have been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage.”
