Montgomery County food pantries concerned over limited funding [Video]

BETHESDA, Md. (DC News Now) — Food pantries throughout Montgomery County are calling for more funding as they continue to work with limited resources to provide nutrition to residents throughout the Washington Metropolitan.

“The last 18 to 24 months, we have really seen inflation not only people on the ground, but also hit us as a business,” said David Silbert, founder of North Bethesda-based food pantry, So What Else.

Silbert said his organization is operating at a monthly deficit of roughly $20,000 a month. He said his organization is grateful for the county grants they’ve received thus far, but that more money could help expand his organization’s initiative to feed those in need.
