Michigan man wins big with instant scratch-off lottery ticket [Video]

With his winnings, the man said he plans to make some home improvements, take a vacation and live comfortably.

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — A 50-year-old Wayne County man’s daily ritual of buying a scratch-off ticket recently paid off in a big way.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased a $1 million winning ticket at the Way Station located at 950 South Main Street in Plymouth. 

“I like playing all of the different lottery games, and I have a daily ritual of stopping at the Way Station to purchase a scratch-off ticket,” said the player. “I scratched the Wild Cherry ticket when I got home and when I saw it was a $1 million winning ticket, I had to scan it on the app to make sure I was reading it right. Once the app confirmed my prize, I woke up my wife to tell her the good news!”

Severe weather damages homes, power lines in Alabama [Video]

Extreme weather hit Coosa Island overnight Saturday into Sunday, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure.Damaged homes, ripped and downed power lines, and debris are everywhere.Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative CEO Jon Cullimore said crews are now working around the clock to restore power.We are here for our consumers as an electric cooperative we're owned by the consumers we serve, we're not for profit, we're here to provide service and that's what our guys are out doing they're trying to get that service restored because our consumers need that electricity especially with the colder weather that's coming in, explained Cullimore.>>THE LATEST: Your forecast from WVTM 13 meteorologistsResidents off camera said they noticed the strong winds around midnight.It only lasted for about five minutes, but the damage the wind left behind will take much longer to fix.Some who live here even say they may have to rebuild their homes from the ground up.The National Weather Service said it will survey Coosa Island to see if a tornado did touch down.As of Monday morning, NWS confirmed tornadoes in Lamar County and Athens, Georgia. NWS plans to survey at least two other sites in Shelby and St. Clair counties Monday.
