Metro Parks expending programs to serve more communities [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – July is Parks and Recreation Month and in Nashville, Metro Parks is focused on giving more people access to its resources.

Metro Parks is expanding its hours, locations and activities to help more people as the city grows.

At Smith Springs Community Center, they’re focused on helping families and young people who might not have been able to get signed up for organized programs, like summer camps and after-school activities that fill up as soon as registration opens.

The center has started new drop-in sessions and other activities to help peoples’ physical, mental and social health.

Facility manager Barbara Manuel said Smith Springs is a jewel of the community and they want everyone to have access to its fitness center, gym, pool and other activity rooms.
