Medical examiners in Maine are trying to positively identify the two bodies found in an Otisfield home that was destroyed by a fire.Family friends are confident the victims are 77-year-old Jean Jalbert and his 65-year-old wife, Donna, the residents of the destroyed farmhouse.Amanda Smith, a longtime neighbor and close friend of the couple, said Jean gave her a stuffed animal when she was just a young girl. That stuffed animal is now part of a memorial for the Jalberts, which includes flowers and other meaningful items. “One day, he was coming next door and there was a tiny hole in the ground, and he twisted his ankle, and I ran out to him yelling: ‘Jean! Jean!’ I gave him my baby blanket and in return, he gave me a teddy bear,” Smith recalled.The Jalberts were described as a friendly couple who loved their animals. A dog died in the fire …
