State officials chose Lynchburg as the host city for their 2024 brownfields conference in part to highlight how the city has turned several abandoned industrial and commercial sites into economic success stories.

The Virginia Brownfields Conference, hosted by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the City of Lynchburg Office of Economic Development and Tourism last month, let attendees learn about the funding options available to communities across the state to rehabilitate brownfield sites.
