This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Fire Department is remembering fellow firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The department gave a special tribute on Tuesday as National Fire Prevention Week kicks off.
During the week, fire officials will provide free home safety assessments and smoke detector installations.
Mayor Craig Greenberg said the goal of National Fire Prevention Week is limiting the number of fires in the city as much as possible.
“The goal – to have no fires. We know we have a long way to get there, but one way that we can certainly make progress to prevent fires from happening is to encourage everyone to have working smoke alarms in their home. Having working fire alarms is such an important public safety device,” Greenberg said.
