LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. — More powerful winds were expected to trigger new wildfires that could set back the recent progress made in containing blazes that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people.

Trump says he’s eyeing Los Angeles like the developer he used to be
President-elect Donald Trump says he’s putting on his developer’s cap with an eye toward Los Angeles.
The former real estate developer said during a telephone interview with the conservative news outlet Newsmax that areas burned by the wildfires look like they were hit by a “massive bomb.”
Trump, who will be inaugurated next Monday, said, “We’re going to do things with Los Angeles.” He did not elaborate.
Trump also didn’t answer a question about whether he would accept an invitation to tour the area.
