Local leaders working to bring new life to blighted properties in North Baton Rouge [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Is there a run-down building in North Baton Rouge that you think could be a great location for a new business? Here’s how to get more information and possibly help breathe new life into old properties.

“If you just drive down, you can find, you know an old gas station or an abandoned building and, you know, and it just kind of just sits there idle and oftentimes, it gets passed up by developers because of the environmental concerns or just the extra, you know, money or time it takes to get it — put it back in commerce,” City-Parish Planner Manager Jasmine Thomas said.

The North Economic Development District and City-Parish Planning Commission are working to improve Plank Road, Mid-City and Scotlandville. The first step is speaking to developers and property owners.
