Local group, bus riders call on county leaders to secure funding to prevent further cuts [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – We’ve seen it happen in different cities across the metro — bus services being cut.

It all started with Gladstone in July of last year, then Raytown, Grandview and Blue Springs. Now, there could be more.

People who rely on the bus are now calling on Jackson County legislatures to provide funding to stop further cuts.

Riders who depend on the bus system and members of the Sunshine Movement Kansas City held a rally in front of the Jackson County Courthouse Monday to demand that leaders “stick up for their people.”

“The cost of cutting a public transit system is most felt by the people who are riding it not by the people who are in these high offices making these decisions,” said Adin Alem, leader with Sunrise Movement Kansas City.
