Lincoln Salvation Army kicks off Annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Salvation Army is looking to individuals and businesses in the community to help them provide children with the tools they need for a successful school year.

The distribution event will take place on Thursday, August 8 at the Lincoln Salvation Army.

The backpack drive runs through August 5, which gives people an opportunity to donate. Donations are accepted at the Lincoln Salvation Army on Potter Street or online through the organization’s Amazon wishlist by clicking here.

There are also blue barrels located at various businesses around Lincoln, where people can drop off school supplies and socks. A list of locations is on the Salvation Army’s website.

Captain Kelsie Moreno, with the Salvation Army, explained that the general need among families in the capital city has increased. Moreno added that events like this drive could have a big impact on students in these situations.
