Kansas City International Airport experiences record-breaking month [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City International Airport has been busy since it opened in 2023, and June saw a record-breaking number of passengers in its history.

More than 1.175 million passengers arrived and departed from KCI in June 2024— a 7.4% increase from June of 2023. The previous record was 1.14 million passengers in July of 2021. KCI officials expect to have more than 12 million passengers in 2024.

Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Quinton Lucas said the boost in travel is essential for the city’s economic growth.

“Frankly, we’re preparing for exciting days and breaking records all the time,” he said. “In June 2024, we were excited to see this record broken and we expect to see even more excitement between now, the World Cup, and long after.”
