How Missouri small businesses feel about Proposition A | Elections [Video]

Proposition A is the sixth ballot issue on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website for this year’s general election. Missouri’s current minimum wage is $12.30 per hour, and if passed, the proposition would raise Missouri’s minimum wage by $1.25 each year to $15 an hour by 2026.

It would also mandate that for every 30 hours worked, an employer would be required to provide one hour of paid sick leave.

Minimum wage

If passed, this proposition would provide a raise for 562,000 workers and would help them bring in an extra $1,083 each year, according to the Missouri Budget Project. The majority of businesses would be required to make this change.

However, businesses classified as retail or service industries with annual gross sales under $500,000, as well as exempt governmental entities, political subdivisions, school districts and education institutions don’t have to follow the proposition’s requirements.
