Holman Mortuary serving the community since 1938 [Video]

HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) – Many people say what makes a hometown are the people and places in it, including the businesses.

The Holman Headland Mortuary is one of the town’s longest-running businesses and has been serving people during their most difficult times.

“My mother and daddy began this funeral home,” Russell Holman, one of the mortuary owners said. “They began this business in March of 1938.”

And the business has been in Headland for 86 years.

“We are one of the oldest businesses around here,” Holman explained. “Our family, the Holman family, came to southeast Alabama to Ozark in 1865 from Grantville, Georgia.”

At this funeral home, everyone is family.

General manager Randy Crenshaw says this business is rewarding because he is helping uplift those when they need it most.

“We are not immune to grief ourselves,” Crenshaw said. “We all have families and children, and grandparents. We have all been through the dying and death process. …
