Floodwater from heavy rains over the past several days has closed the beaches at two Jackson County lakes.Longview Lake Beach and Blue Springs Lake Beach are both closed for the remainder of the extended holiday weekend.“We’ve got some restoration work that has to be done after the water recedes. That restoration work includes removing some of the debris that washes up on the beach, doing restoration and cleaning of the sand areas. There are some erosion areas already starting to form that is natural when the water recedes from the beach line,” said Brian Nowotny, Deputy Director of Jackson County Parks and Recreation.Jackson County has the largest parks system in Missouri, with more than 21,000 acres, but only two lakefront beaches are now closed.At Longview Lake Beach, two volleyball courts are now part of the lake.There’s also a picnic table partially submerged.And there’s some debris at the top of what’s …
