The power is back on, but many local businesses were dealt a financial blow during the 3-day outage. Island News spoke to store owners who are now in recovery mode.
HONOLULU (Island News) — It’s a sad situation for many residents and small mom-and-pop shops in Chinatown and many of them don’t know where to turn for help.
“Fifty-eight hours with no power, all the food destroyed in the refrigerator,” said Chinatown resident Donald Bedford. “Just went to Safeway and put $200 worth of food in my fridge. It’s useless.”
