Heat advisories impact HS football practices [Video]

ELBERTA, Ala. (WALA) – Heat indexes hit well over 100-degrees Tuesday afternoon, August 6, 2024 but that’s not stopping area high school football teams from getting their practices in. Elberta opens up at home against Orange Beach in two weeks and the Warriors hit the field in the heat of the day to prepare.

Brand new, John T. Cobb Stadium is home to the Elberta football program. The artificial turf is state-of-the-art, down to its rubber pellets.

“This field in particular has cooling pellets or rubber, cooling pellets and so, it’s really not as bad as you think it is,” said Elberta Head Football Coach, Nathan McDaniel.
