Hammons Field gets a big funding boost from the state of Missouri [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield Cardinals fans will soon notice Hammons Field looking a little different, as upgrades are in the works thanks to a big boost from the state budget.

Governor Parson signed the bill, which allocates $3.5 million to upgrade the stadium. According to Springfield Cardinal general manager Dan Reiter, those upgrades will bring Hammons Field up to league standard. That means a massive project will build a connection in the stands from left to right field.

“In the Texas League, we are the only team that does not connect around, and I think as a community, I think that was one of those talking points that really helped out local delegation, our city, to explain to people it’s not just saying that we want to do this, it’s that we’re the only stadium that’s not,” said Reiter. “In order for Hammons Field to last as long as …
