ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Usually, Asheville, NC would be packed for the holidays. But Hurricane Helene kept a lot of tourists from coming up and staying this holiday. The hurricane also canceled the Omni Grove Park Inn’s National Gingerbread Competition, so there’s been a twist on tradition.
Instead of all the gingerbread houses being in one spot at the Omni Grove Park Inn, The Gingerbread Trail of Giving event has them scattered around Asheville at local businesses. The idea is, to see the houses, spend money, and encourage those impacted businesses. The houses are on display through January 5, 2024.
All in all, 45 bakers donated their gingerbread houses. My family headed to Asheville over the weekend to be part of the Gingerbread Trail of Giving. As you can imagine, the trail starts at the Omni Grove Park Inn. There are several houses here to see, including one made …
