Ghana is yet to create billionaires from gold, cocoa after 100 years of exports [Video]

The Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, GIPC, Yofi Grant, has bemoaned the country’s inability to create billionaires despite being a top exporter of gold and cocoa.

According to him, after so many years of exporting these products, it is unfortunate that corresponding wealth status has not been created.

In this light, he believes that when the private and public sectors of the economy collaborate, they will be able to create the economy that Ghana is meant to have.

Speaking at this year’s Club 100 awards on October 28, 2024, he said: “Ghana has been exporting gold for more than 100 years and perhaps cocoa for even longer but we haven’t created any billionaires out of these two exports that we have.

“I am convinced that the private sector in partnership with the public sector will be the real impetus and movement of our economy,” he added.
