WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – After delays, construction at the site of the former mall in Downtown Wausau has been smooth sailing since the groundbreaking in May. They’re still on track for a 2025 completion.
Walls are being built for shops that will be on the first floor. After that, they will get started on 150 apartment units, but that’s not all you can expect once this project is done. If you’ve been to downtown Wausau recently, you may have noticed the progress they’re making at the Foundry on 3rd. The site has changed a lot in just a matter of months.
“As you look behind me what’s happening now is they are putting the foundations around the perimeter of the building and you can see some of the superstructures going up and those are the elevator shafts,” said Wausau Opportunity Zone CEO/President David Eckmann.
