With all due respect to Mr. Lou Vitantonio regarding his July 20 guest column, ”Auto dealers, customers left out of the conversation on new electric vehicle mandate,” while switching to electric vehicles may take a modicum of effort, kicking the can down the road on yet another problem (see infrastructure, plastic trash, declining fisheries or any of the myriad issues close to your particular heart) is not the answer.

If “fueling an EV remains complicated and more unfamiliar for the average motorist,” as Vitantonio argues, take five minutes to learn how to plug it in, then move on to enjoying never having to go to the gas station again!

Focusing on the negatives isn’t going to change the reality that EVs are the future. A little encouragement will help people realize that an EV is actually less expensive to operate over the life of the vehicle. No gas, no …
