Father and son diversify family farm, expand to 7 generations [Video]

HEBRON, Neb. (KOLN) – When a farmer just south of Hebron noticed a lack of growth in his crops from the dry season, he decided to diversify with cereal and forage to stay in the business.

“That’s the bad part about, I mean, relying on mother nature, I guess we’re at God’s mercy,” Mark Hintz, farmer and rancher, said.

Mark Hintz said his journey to farming began when he got his first calf at about five years old. He now raises registered Simmental and SimAngus cattle along with about 350 acres of crops.

He doesn’t just do those all on his own though, he has the help of his son Ben to expand the family farm to the seventh generation.
