MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) – An Alabama family is in mourning after their loved one drowned thousands of miles away in Hawaii.
Octavian Sigler, a 26-year-old from Mobile, was living in his dream place when he moved to Hawaii for work two years ago.
His body was found floating in the water in Honolulu on Sunday.
Firefighters pulled his body to shore after they said he drowned in an apparent diving accident.
His sister Latonya Sigler said she knew something was wrong last week when she didn’t hear from her brother and filed a missing person’s report.
“That’s what actually triggered us to want to do that missing person alert to the Honolulu city, and like I said, unfortunately we did receive the news that they found the body,” Latonya Sigler said. “A bystander found the body in the water, and it was confirmed that it was my brother.”
