MASON CITY, Iowa-Brad Davis owns Ole-Chitt Antiques. The business is something he’s been doing for the past 40 years.

In the past year, the antique mall he’s been selling out of in Albert Lea started shutting down, so he decided to move his vast collection of merchandise closer to home.

Davis says, “The store I was at was closing, or the building got sold so they’re closing so I got a minivan and I moved 10 minivans full of merchandise out of that store this summer.”

A third of that merchandise went into storage, another third went to his new location in Story City and the rest he’s been selling out of his garage.

Davis has held five garage sales this summer and he hasn’t been doing it alone. Throughout the summer, his grandchildren have been acting as his employees, helping him sell his merchandise and take a bite out …
