Expect detour on Great Bridge Boulevard during 6-week project [Video]

Drivers on Great Bridge Boulevard should expect delays starting Jan. 7.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The installation of a sewer pipeline in Chesapeake could cause delays for drivers on Great Bridge Boulevard.

The Hampton Roads Sanitation District will have crews between Bainbridge Boulevard and Joyner Road beginning as early as Jan. 7. The work is expected to last up to six weeks.

During the project, traffic will be rerouted south toward Grant Street.

Residents who live within the road closure will continue to have access, HRSD said.

For thru truck traffic, Great Bridge Boulevard will be closed at both Bainbridge Boulevard and Campostella Road. Trucks can follow a detour using Dominion Boulevard and South Military Highway.
