Excitement ramping up as UConn football season opener approaches [Video]

STORRS, CT (WFSB) – Excitement is starting to build for the beginning of the college football season, with UConn opening play in less than two weeks when they travel to take on Maryland.

The Huskies seem to be headed in the right direction during practice.

It’s been a long training camp for the program, but Tuesday was a major shift in preparations for the opener.

With that came a big sigh of relief from the big man in the middle of the defense, Senior Defensive Lineman Jelani Stafford.

“Oh I’m ready, we’ve been going hard what 21-22 days so far really hyped for Maryland we got some Maryland scout today, service periods and stuff like that so we are itching to go against the Terrapins next week,” he said.

As the game planning ramps up, so does a sense of urgency for the team.
