England might play the three-match T20I series against Australia without captain Jos Buttler as he is facing a race to be fit after suffering a calf injury.
England will host Australia in an eight-match white-ball series, with the first T20I match taking place at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on September 11.
England’s white-ball captain missed the entire The Hundred because of the calf injury he sustained in July.
Buttler will definitely miss the quarter-final match against Sussex on Wednesday, as confirmed by Red Rose head coach Dale Benkenstein. The injury has kept him sidelined since June, and a recent setback has further delayed his return to the field.
