The Eaton fire in Altadena started near a nature preserve just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. It’s 0% contained but officials say growth has been significantly stopped.
ALTADENA, Calif. — Firefighters are continuing Thursday to try and gain some kind of control of the Eaton Fire near Pasadena.
Thousands of homes, businesses and other structures have been destroyed between the Palisades and Eaton fires, and the number is expected to increase. Officials said Thursday that more than 5,000 structures have been destroyed at least three deaths have been recorded so far from the Eaton Fire, according to a clarification from the LA County Sheriff’s Office. The LA county coroner’s office said there’s been at least 10 fire-related deaths as of 9 p.m. Thursday. It’s not clear how many of those are connected to the Eaton Fire.
The Eaton Fire stands at about 13,690 acres.
