TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – Douglas Bros. Jewelry in Troy has been around a few years.
“153 years give or take,” said owner Scherr Qualls.
It opened back in 1871. It’s a business that’s all about family.
“Here’s the owners of the business. My great grandfather, the founder, his two sons were the Douglas brothers, my mother and father, and then my brother and myself.”
Talk about surviving the test of time. They still have a piece of history from the 1870s.
“This street sign hung from the original store. It says Douglas Jewelry and Watch Repair.”
The current owner Scherr Qualls is at home behind the scenes.
“I like fixing things. That’s all I do all day is fix things, broken rings, size rings and chains, whatever comes along.”
