Disabled veteran finds new roots in Spokane with help from generous volunteers | News [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — Veterans, neighbors and community members woke up bright and early Saturday ready to work and make the outside of Army Colonel Danny Dudek’s home look just as good and special as the inside.

“They are helping put in the roots for me,” Danny said.

The event was organized by the national non-profit Homes for Our Troops, which works to give homes to disabled veterans.

For Danny, this means being able to finally feel comfortable moving around his house. The house will have 40 adaptations that include lower countertops and roll under sinks. 

“It means the world to have people that I really care about showing that they care about Megan and me,” he said.

Danny’s home is one of the 68 HFOT is currently in the process of building.
