COLUMBIA — Destiny of HOPE, a Columbia nonprofit, has been granted more funding to expand its efforts and services to at-risk youth.
Destiny of HOPE provides services including therapy, school services, positive youth development and more to bring stability to children within the organization.
“The young people we serve are those who struggle a little here and there, but yet they have been told things about themselves that’s absolutely not true,” said Lonnie Lockhart Bey, the executive director of Destiny of HOPE. “We try to raise leaders, business owners and all of those different necessities that make this community what it is.”
The funding is being allocated from the city of Columbia’s American Rescue Plan Act funds and is raising the original agreement of $320,000 to $453,333.333. This is a result of the growing interest in attending the center.
