The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission now have a new chairman and a full nine member board. The commission elected Dr. Ricardo (Rocky) Escajadillo to be chairman and Jonathan Atkinson to be vice-chairman. The remaining $2.6 million out of the $3.5 million the commission received that is to go to minority-owned businesses still has no date on when it will distributed.
Gary Lee, the Chief Administrative Officer of the DEI Commission, said, “the full board is seated and they have decided that we are going to work very diligently on getting the money out on the streets to the people.”
“I want to see it out there as soon as possible, it is something we have to address as a commission, vote on things, and get these grants out to these small businesses that are hurting and need that startup,” said newly appointed chairman, Dr. Ricardo Escajadillo.
