Coventry teen helping cats find homes [Video]

COVENTRY, Conn. (WTNH) — A 16-year-old in Coventry is helping police find more than 30 cats homes.

The cats were taken from a nearby home, where they were not being properly cared for.

“I went to go out around the neighborhood to see how many were actually out there,” Alyssa Fisher said. “There’s probably about 40 in bad condition.”

Fisher is working with the Coventry Police Department to help the felines find a new place to call home.

“We decided to make our own shelter in our garage to help these cats out and to get them the vetting they need,” she said.

Many animal shelters in Connecticut are at or over capacity.

“All the animal shelters are full, so no animal shelter that we’ve reached out to can help, unfortunately,” Coventry Police Chief Eric Peterson said. “So, what we’re trying to do now is find people who want to …
