Cooperatives using new technology to support farmers [Video]

SYRACUSE, Neb. (KOLN) – October is Cooperative Month in Nebraska, and this year’s theme, “The Future is Cooperative,” highlights the role of cooperatives in agriculture’s future.

Jeremy Wilhelm, CEO of Frontier Cooperative, recently shared how the organization is preparing producers for what’s ahead.

“I think fundamentally ag is going to look similar in the future,” Wilhelm said. “Farmers are going to continue to feed the world, but they will do it more efficiently using new technology, using advancements in crop nutrients and crop protection. It will consolidate, like it has for the last 25 or 30 years, but the farmers are still going to be doing what they do today.”

At a Frontier grain facility near Syracuse, drones are already being used to enhance productivity. Wilhelm emphasized the importance of adopting cutting-edge technology.
