SIOUX CITY — The City of Sioux City is exploring other options for the development of a parcel of land at Sioux Gateway Airport’s entrance, after a developer failed to provide financing information for a hotel project.
During Monday’s City Council meeting, the council voted to delete from its agenda a resolution accepting Midwest Hotels, LLC’s proposal to construct a 120-unit hotel, convenience store and warehousing on the property. The removal was requested by city staff.
Back in February, the council green-lighted an urban renewal process to solicit proposals from interested developers for parcels of land at the northeast and southeast corners of Aviation and Discovery boulevards. Both parcels currently contain some rental housing units, and one is home to a historic World War II-era chapel, which has been vacant for a number of years.
