Grant Holloway, the Olympic gold medalist in the men’s 110m hurdles was honored by his hometown of Chesapeake on Friday.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A native son returned home to Chesapeake where it all started.
The city provided a meet and greet as family, friends, and fans lined up along the sidewalk behind Chesapeake City Hall on Friday afternoon.
“Time is of the essence,” he joked about the long lines. He wouldn’t have it any other way. “I’d rather have a celebration because I did something rather than be annoyed because I gotta do it versus not having it at all.”
The 26-year-old, who won gold in the men’s 110m hurdles back in July, was humbled by the turnout.
“I’m blessed. It feels like the whole 757 came out here to show support,” he said.
