DAYTON — UPDATE:

A fire ripped through a building Friday resulting in an emergency demolition being ordered.

Crews said a fire in the 600 block of Ferguson Avenue was so strong that they had to do a “tactical burn” and work to control the fire from the outside, according to Capt. Matt Sherrill with the Dayton Fire Department.

Sherrill said crews were called to demolish the building since it was not structurally sound.

No one was hurt during the fire and the building appeared vacant.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
