The GBI said the shooting, that happened on Evergreen Drive in Elbert County, left a 15-year-old dead and seven others with injuries.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said 15-year-old Bry’Shun Jordan died from his injuries in the shooting that happened on Oct. 12 around 11:50 p.m. in Elbert County. Seven others were hurt. The GBI announced Friday it charged 18-year-old Jarquavious Demetrious Scott, of Anderson, South Carolina, with murder.
As Scott awaits extradition to Georgia, Jordan’s loved ones are turning to the community for help.
“Unfortunately, the insurance policy has delayed the funeral payout, which could take 6-8 weeks,” an online fundraiser indicates.
They are hoping to cover his burial expenses without further delays, adding that what happened to the teen was “senseless.”
“Bry’shun was deeply loved by his community and known as the ‘gentle giant’ to many of his teachers. His smile could light up any room,” the fundraising campaign states.
