Bridge City City Council wants to make city the ‘Corndog Capital of Texas’ [Video]

If approved, the ordinance would put the city, and potentially a Bridge City family business, on the map.

BRIDGE CITY, Texas — The Bridge City City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a resolution that would declare the city the “Corndog Capital of Texas.”

The news came as a complete surprise to John Rowlett, owner of The Bridge City Corndog Stand. Rowlett, who has been running his family’s corndog business since 1991, had no idea the resolution was under consideration.

“Complete surprise! I found out about it when y’all contacted me!” Rowlett said.

If approved, the ordinance would put the city, and potentially Rowlett’s family business, on the map.

“I mean, it’s well known as the anchor of Rainbow Bridge. Now we can be the Corndog Capital of Texas too!” Rowlett said.

Rowlett describes his corndogs as a special treat, made with a signature batter and deep-fried to golden perfection.
