Boeing machinists vote to accept contract, end strike | News [Video]

SEATTLE, Wash. — The months-long Boeing strike came to an end Monday night.

Boeing machinists voted by 59% to accept the most recent contract and end the strike.

The strike began on September 13 and lasted 53 days.

According to the Associated Press, the latest proposal from Boeing offers pay raises of 38% over four years plus ratification and productivity bonuses.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee congratulated both the union and Boeing on the agreement.

“Tonight’s vote by the Machinists puts Boeing’s future back on more solid footing. Washington is home to the world’s most skilled aerospace workers and they understandably took a stand for the respect and compensation they deserve. Congratulations to IAM District 751 and Boeing on reaching an agreement.”

Workers can return to work as early as the first shift on Wednesday, November 6, and will be required to return to work on Tuesday, November 12.
