Bo Nix will get a chance to move a step closer to being the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback in Week 1 of the regular season.
The rookie quarterback will start on Sunday when the Broncos face the Green Bay Packers in their second preseason game. Denver head coach Sean Payton made the announcement on Friday.
“I think we’re going to see Bo starting out in Phase I (of the game), Stiddy (Jarrett Stidham) in Phase II, and Zach (Wilson) in Phase III,” Payton told reporters Friday.
Nix, the No. 12 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft, performed very well in his debut against the Indianapolis Colts. Coming off the bench after starter Jarrett Stidham, Nix completed 15-of-21 passes for 125 yards with a touchdown and he finished with a rating of 102.3.
