A makeover is in the works for Omaha’s North Saddle Creek Road, home to such local cultural touchpoints as the Homy Inn, Sgt. Peffer’s Cafe Italian and the traffic peanut.
The name is a mouthful. It’s the North Saddle Creek Neighborhood Business District Renovation Project. The project will renovate about five blocks of North Saddle Creek, from Hamilton Street and the Northwest Radial Highway to the roundabout known as the traffic peanut, near Metcalfe Park.
In addition to curb, sidewalk, lighting and other improvements, the project aims to unmuddle the befuddling five-way intersection of North Saddle Creek with Hamilton and 48th Streets. It will add more on-street parking. And a …
