Biden approves disaster declaration for Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe [Video]

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dakota News Now) – On Friday, FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance was now available to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe to assist those in areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding on July 13 and 14, 2024.

President Joe Biden’s action makes federal funding available and includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans for uninsured property losses and other programs to assist businesses and individuals impacted.

Certain private nonprofit organizations also have funding available on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and repairing facilities.

Those who sustained losses from the disaster in the designated areas can apply for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA app.
