BBB warns of ticket scams ahead of Alabama-Georgia game in Tuscaloosa [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Football fans beware! If you’re looking to cheer on the Dawgs or Tide Saturday in Tuscaloosa, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has alerted fans about fraudulent ticket sales, especially online.

According to the BBB, scammers take advantage of fans by offering fake tickets for sale through social media platforms and other online channels.

Carl Bates, President of the BBB serving Central and South Alabama, says that once these scammers receive payment through apps like Cash App, Venmo, or other digital platforms, they often vanish, leaving buyers with no tickets and it’s unlikely they get their money back.

He advises fans to stick with trusted sources when purchasing tickets. “The legitimate ticket brokers, both here locally and the national ones like SeatGeek, StubHub—they’re all fine,” says Bates. “But if someone doesn’t take a credit card, be cautious.
