Athlete fulfils paralympic dream through Kelly Brush grant [Video]

Next month, the Paralympic Games will get underway in Paris, and a foundation based in Charlotte, Vermont, is helping two athletes fulfill their dreams to compete there this year. For nearly two decades, the Kelly Brush Foundation has helped athletes with spinal cord injuries reach their full potential through grant funding and education about adaptive sports. This year, the foundation helped two athletes qualify for the games in Paris. Emi Perry was one of the grant recipients. Perry is from Philadelphia. She was an avid runner until an accident in June of 2017 when she fell from a ladder and woke up in the ICU with a spinal cord injury. After losing her ability to walk, Perry’s physical therapy team introduced her to wheelchair racing.
